On my trip to New York I bought an iPad at the Apple Store at Fifth Avenue. After two weeks experimenting I am still very positive about its possibilities.
Some apps I like (all iTunes App Store links):
Photogene Great tool for basic adjustments of photos, like resizing, cropping and some very nice filters and level adjustments. Exports to social networks. A no brainer to buy.
WordPress Works nice on the iPad. Basic utilities for writing and blogging posts. Just plain text, no formatting options. It could use some extra functions in the future.
Asphalt 5 HD Great urban racing game with many missions and bluetooth support for multi player mode.
Calc XT A very handy scientific calculator with cut and past options and a memo pad.
Pinball HD Pinball for the iPad looks and feels very realistic. Plays in portrait and landscape view. Very nice 3D effects in portrait view.
Space Station: Frontier HD Strategic deep space game in the tower defense tradition. A lot of options and variables to deal with. Very addictive if you like this genre.
Roswell Fighter HD Fun Arcade style shooter. Quite original with its fifties style art and music. Tons of aliens to wipe out.
Low Grav Racer 2 HD You ever played Star Wars Pod Racer? This is the iPad version. Fast and nerve-wrecking. You can activate the 3D mode for a full 3D experience. This requires red/blue 3D glasses. BTW: If anybody knows where Star Wars Pod Racer is still available, let me know!
iElectribe A direct port of the Electribe, the eminent drum synth of Korg from the nineties. It sounds very good and offers many different synth grooves which can be modified and automated in different ways. It produces serious sounds of good quality.
Midipad Not yet available in the App Store but it looks promising. It is an all round multi touch midi controller.
